From The Very Beginning, God Commanded Nation Israel To Support The Workers
Whose Job Was To Preserve & Promote The Judeo-Christian Bible,
When God Said That The Levites Were To Receive 10% Of The People's Offerings
In Order To Provide For Their Families :
(Numbers 18:21 KJV)
"And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance,
for their service which they serve,
even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation."
In The New Testament, We Are Still Instructed To Support Those Who Devote Their Lives
To The Preservation & Promotion Of The Judeo-Christian Bible :
(1 Timothy 5:17 KJV)
"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour,
especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."
(1 Timothy 5:18 KJV)
"For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn.
And, The labourer is worthy of his reward."
(Luke 10:1 KJV)
"After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also,
and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come."
(Luke 10:2 KJV)
"Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest."
(Luke 10:5 KJV)
"And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house."
(Luke 10:7 KJV)
"And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give:
for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house."
(Luke 10:8 KJV)
"And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:"
(1 Corinthians 9:7 NRSV)
"Who at any time pays the expenses for doing military service?
Who plants a vineyard and does not eat any of its fruit?
Or who tends a flock and does not get any of its milk?"
(1 Corinthians 9:8 NRSV)
"Do I say this on human authority? Does not the law also say the same?"
(1 Corinthians 9:9 NRSV)
"For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain."
Is it for oxen that God is concerned?"
(1 Corinthians 9:10 NRSV)
"Or does he not speak entirely for our sake?
It was indeed written for our sake,
for whoever plows should plow in hope
and whoever threshes should thresh in hope of a share in the crop."
(1 Corinthians 9:11 NRSV)
"If we have sown spiritual good among you,
is it too much if we reap your material benefits?"
An Example Of A Couple Who Provided For The Material Needs Of A Spiritual Worker,
The Prophet Elisha, And Were Blessed For It :
(2 Kings 4:8 KJV)
"And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman;
and she constrained him to eat bread.
And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread."
(2 Kings 4:9 KJV)
"And she said unto her husband,
Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually."
(2 Kings 4:10 KJV)
"Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall;
and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick:
and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither."
(2 Kings 4:11 KJV)
"And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there."
(2 Kings 4:12 KJV)
"And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite.
And when he had called her, she stood before him."
(2 Kings 4:13 KJV)
"And he said unto him, Say now unto her,
Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee?
wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host?
And she answered, I dwell among mine own people."
(2 Kings 4:14 KJV)
"And he said, What then is to be done for her?
And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old."
(2 Kings 4:15 KJV)
"And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door."
(2 Kings 4:16 KJV)
"And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son.
And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid."
(2 Kings 4:17 KJV)
"And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her,
according to the time of life."
Tithing Is The Way That The Believers In Jesus Financially Support The Church
And The Church Workers.
God Says That Tithing Is One Way To "Prove" Him.
If We Will Tithe According To The Bible's Commands,
God Says He Has PROMISED To Bless Us With Such An Enormous "Blessing",
That We Will Not Even Have Enough "Room To Receive It" :
(Malachi 3:7 KJV)
"Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances,
and have not kept them.
Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
But ye said, Wherein shall we return?"
(Malachi 3:8 KJV)
"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me.
But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings."
(Malachi 3:9 KJV)
"Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."
(Malachi 3:10 KJV)
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
(Malachi 3:11 KJV)
"And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground;
neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts."
(Malachi 3:12 KJV)
"And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts."
(Proverbs 3:9 KJV)
"Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:"
(Proverbs 3:10 KJV)
"So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
We Are To Help Anyone We Can Who Is A Part Of The Church :
(Galatians 6:10 KJV)
"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
(Romans 15:25 NRSV)
"At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem in a ministry to the saints;"
(Romans 15:26 NRSV)
"for Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased
to share their resources with the poor among the saints at Jerusalem."
(Romans 15:27 NRSV)
"They were pleased to do this, and indeed they owe it to them;
for if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings,
they ought also to be of service to them in material things."
